Albany Berkshire Ballet (ABB), a 501(c)3 non–profit organization, was founded by Artistic Director, Madeline Cantarella Culpo — a 1954 alumna of The Juilliard School of Music’s first dance program. The Cantarella School of Dance was founded in 1955. Soon after Ms. Culpo developed a performance outlet for advanced students leading to the Berkshire Civic Ballet in 1975. The company grew from the Berkshire Civic Ballet to the Albany Berkshire Ballet in 1989 following the organization’s expansion into New York’s Capital District.

Today ABB is partnering with local communities and businesses to continue to entertain, educate and enlighten audiences. ABB wants local businesses and corporate sponsors to recognize that supporting ABB is an important investment in maintaining an artistically vibrant local culture. Program Advertisements can be impactful in helping ABB maintain the highest artistic standards and continue to bring professional dance and performances to the local arts landscape including The Nutcracker.
